About Our Data

By default, the properties shown on our map are limited to single‑family homes priced at 100 million yen or lower, located no farther than a 45‑minute walk from the nearest train station.

We also try to only include full‑ownership listings (no leasehold properties). While the data isn’t always perfect and there will be exceptions, these criteria are the standard we apply when selecting properties to display. You can further narrow your search using the filters.

Property data is updated regularly from 10+ verified Japanese sources. Prices are shown converted to USD using current exchange rates.

Important Disclaimer: Akiya Hunter is not responsible for the accuracy of the data displayed on this map. We do our best to provide useful information, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the listings. Buying in Japan: FAQ

Your Top Questions, Answered

Yes. Foreigners can buy and own land and houses in Japan. Ownership does not require a visa. A visa is only needed for living in Japan long‑term-many passports allow short stays (e.g., up to 90 days) without a visa.

No visa is required to purchase property. If you plan to live in Japan, you will need an appropriate residency status. Our community and partners can help you understand options and next steps when you're ready.

Expect line items like registration and license tax, notarization/stamps, brokerage, and municipal fees. Exact amounts vary by property and city. When you're ready to move forward, our partners provide transparent estimates before you commit.

Financing can be challenging for non‑residents and for older rural homes. 99.9% of home purchases by non-residents are cash. If financing is a must, talk with lenders early in your home country, as it is likely not viable for you to get loans in Japan. The good news: most properties cost only a down-payment in many countries.

Yes-many buyers complete the process remotely using bilingual support, power‑of‑attorney, and verified partners. We can connect you with trusted teams when you're ready.

Always perform due diligence. Schedule viewings, request additional photos/videos, and consider a professional inspection. When it's time, partners can quote renovations and property management so you can plan with confidence.

This is general information and not legal advice. Always confirm details for your specific property and situation.
